What does water mean to you? If you had to describe it poetically what words would you choose? Water is an integral part of life on earth and while it is the undeniable source of all life it can also be destructive. Water can occur in vast, deep oceans or in small misty droplets. As humans, we can sip water, swim in water, cry tears of water, dance in the rain, cook and clean with it. Water exists as a gas, liquid and solid. Its color can change almost infinitely. The blue sea, green lakes, muddy rivers, red rain, and silvery puddles just to mention a few.

or an area of approximately 200 inches. Using colored pencil, artistically interpret the theme of water in any of its various forms. You MUST have an asymmetrically balanced composition that goes off at least two adjacent sides and demonstrates realism so you will have to work from photographic resources. The best option is to use one of your own photos. Colored pencil techniques must be consistent, with accurately and realistically rendered details. Your color palette may be realistic or arbitrary, representing a mood or feeling rather than realism. It must demonstrate mastery of color theory and its practical application.
