Create a series of overlapping contour line drawings of an object to create a cubist still life. ~Investigate and draw a single object from multiple angles and sides. ~DRAW the object multiple times from different angles and configurations using weighted contour line. ~CREATE ten drawings of your object about life size. Trace them onto tracing paper and lay them out into a balanced arrangement and then trace them onto a new piece of paper so the images overlap creating new shapes.
SHADE Certain areas of your overlapping drawing realistically with ebony pencil. erase some lines and maybe add in other lines and curves in order to shatter the space. Remember to SHADE using the 5 ELEMENTS OF VALUE. > HIGHLIGHT > HALFTONE > CORE SHADOW > REFLECTED LIGHT > CAST SHADOW COLOR in other spaces using colored pencil in gradients to add abstract interest, not for realistic shaded 3D space. This should be for creating variety and not realism.
**********************Choose your object carefully!********************** The object you choose to draw must be complex and interesting. It may even be a group of different but related objects like a bowl of different types of vegetables and fruits. If your object looks the same no matter how you turn it then choose another. Look for these types of characteristics.
